Academic advisors pave the way to success

Each student at The Southport School has a personal advisor who serves as a guide, helping them build self awareness and self advocacy. The advisor is a student's biggest cheerleader and serves as the communication liaison between the school and families by providing a streamlined process to discuss all aspects of their child's school experience including academics, co-curricular activities, and social emotional growth.

The advisor, an experienced administrator with deep knowledge of both learning differences and TSS, acts as a resource to the student throughout their tenure at the school, helping the child develop self-advocacy skills. Students are assigned to an Advisor appropriate to their age and grade level when they are enrolled into the program. Lower School students transition to a new advisor when they transition to Upper School.

The academic advisor is:

  • An additional professional who is watching out for your child
  • Available by phone or email
  • A constant presence for your student at school
