Summer Academic Program

The Southport School Summer Academic Program provides research-based academic support to public and private school students who are not achieving their full potential or have a language-based learning difference or attention issue. Taught by The Southport School’s highly trained teachers, this program offers individualized, grade-appropriate, research-based approaches, including the Orton-Gillingham Approach, Lindamood-Bell’s Visualizing & Verbalizing®, The Southport School’s proprietary research and evidence based executive function coaching model, The Writing Revolution®, and assistive technology in a supportive learning environment.

  • No testing requirement
  • No diagnosis requirement

New! 2025 Summer Academic Program
While next summer’s programming continues to take shape, we are happy to confirm the continuation of our Skills Sharpeners classes and Strategies Workshops as well as provide Program dates and costs for planning purposes.

Skills Sharpeners 
This remedial, multi-week program is for students entering grades 1-6. Grouped into small classes by ability and age with respect to grade, students participate in the following skills sharpening classes and multi-modal lessons including, Literacy & Language, Literature, Writing, and Mathematics.

Dates: Monday, July 7 - Friday, August 1
Cost: $3,325

Strategies Workshops
In these Math, Reading, Writing, and Study Workshops, students learn strategies and tools to be successful in school. Students can enroll in up to two workshops per session and all four workshops can be attended throughout both sessions.

Session 1 Dates: Monday, July 7 - Friday, July 18 
Cost: $850

Session 2 Dates: Monday, July 20 - Friday, August 1 
Cost: $850
